Considering laser surgery in San Diego? As our skin ages, it loses elasticity
and collagen fibers in the dermal layer which can lead to wrinkles.
A face lift can move and tighten tissue but does very little for
eliminating wrinkles. Chemical & laser peels are the most effective
way to remove wrinkles.
Chemical
peels, laser peels and dermabrasions are variations of the same theme. By
improving the skin texture, chemical peels and laser peels can produce
some of the most dramatic results of any cosmetic surgery. Each technique
has its proponents, and the popularity of each seems to wax and wane over
time, depending upon the then-current coverage in the mass media. What
physicians have learned is that the final result is determined by
controlling the depth of the skin injury. In my office, we use a
scientifically based approach -- offering superficial chemical peels for
the earliest evidence of skin damage, medium-depth laser or chemical peels
for moderate skin damage, and heavy-duty laser or chemical peels for
severe wrinkles and skin damage. We very often blend two techniques in
special circumstances, and it is possible to do segmental work, for
example, the area around the eyes or mouth. For many reasons, which I
will gladly explain during your consultation, optimal results usually
require full facial treatment.
No other procedure in
the cosmetic surgeon's repertoire requires more judgment and experience
than skin resurfacing, and no other procedure can produce such dramatic
results. I and my dedicated team have 28 years of experience to help
you in the recovery process. Recovery time is immediate for
superficial peels (the so-called "lunchtime"
peel), five to eight days for medium peels, and ten to fourteen days for
heavy peels. The recovery time is slightly shorter with the laser but the
results are a bit inferior to a chemical peel in terms of wrinkle
improvement. Although there is significant swelling for the first two or
three days, pain is seldom experienced after the first night with modern
recovery techniques.
Costs for laser surgery in San Diego range from $60 for
superficial peels to approximately $3500 for full-face heavy-duty peels. I charge the
same price for comparable laser or chemical peels, even though my costs
are dramatically higher for the laser. We want our patients to be able to
decide the best procedure for them, not the best price.
