Dr. Splinter has more than 25 years of training and experience in
facial, plastic and cosmetic surgery. A graduate of the University of
Florida, he is Board Certified with highest of honors in facial
plastic surgery. He is a member of the San Diego County Medical
Society, as well as a number of other local, state and national
organizations. Dr. Splinter served as a Medical Officer in the United
States Navy during the Vietnam war and has subsequently served as a
consultant to both the Naval Regional Medical Center and the clinical
faculty of the University of California, San Diego Medical School. He
is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, the American Academy
of Facial, Plastic and Reconstruction Surgeons, and the American
Academy of Cosmetic Surgeons.
Committed to volunteerism and civic responsibility, Dr.
Splinter has served on many local boards, task forces and select
committees covering business, government, educational and service
organizations. Married to Nancye Splinter, an East County activist in
education and the arts, they raised and educated all their six
children locally. Although happily transplanted to San Diego since
1977, Dr. Splinter was raised and educated in the South and has
traveled extensively around the world on numerous medical missionary
trips to such diverse places as the Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand,
Pakistan, Taiwan, Afghanistan, Mexico and Ecuador.
Since 1986, our offices and surgical facilities have
been housed in a landmark historical renovation in the heart of Old
Town La Mesa at the foothills of Mt. Helix. Since 1986, long before
state law required plastic surgical centers to be certified, our
ambulatory surgical center was both Medicare certified and state
approved to the same high standards as area hospitals.
Dr. Splinter spends more than 200 hours each year in
Continuing Medical Education to learn new treatments and management
techniques. You are assured of professional competence, and, best of
